As an academic leader, you will be expected to further strengthen the position of the Department at UMC Utrecht, as well as nationally and internationally. In addition, as the potential Head of the Department of Dermatology and Allergology, you will be exercising your management skills and clear vision for the advancement of the Department scientifically, medically, educationally, and financially.
The Department of Dermatology and Allergology is one of seven clinical departments in the Division of Internal Medicine and Dermatology (DIGD). The DIGD is heavily involved in one of the overarching UMC Utrecht research programs, Infection and Immunity (I&I), and the department of Dermatology and Allergology is a key player in this.
With respect to patient care, the Department of Dermatology and Allergology strives to provide optimal academic care through fruitful collaboration with the departments of Plastic Surgery, Radiotherapy, Pathology, Pediatrics and Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology. Academic care focuses on atopic eczema, food allergy, and drug allergy.
The Department of Dermatology and Allergology also participates in the curriculum for medical students, SUMMA and Biomedical Sciences. The focus has recently been on developing new online training programs for medical students and on adapting the dermatology/allergology teaching program for the new medical masters program.
As the successful candidate for this position, you are an outstanding licensed dermatologist with a special interest in chronic allergic diseases. You have an international reputation for your clinical and translational research in chronic allergic inflammation, as demonstrated by your high quality peer-reviewed publications in international journals, invited reviews, and oral presentations. You are a facilitator by nature, not only bridging clinical and fundamental research, but also establishing links with other institutions, nationally and internationally.
You have a solid track record in obtaining substantial grants from national and international funding agencies and industry, as well as in coaching PhD and post-doctoral students. Your outstanding qualities include being innovative, a strong collaborator, team player, connector and communicator, and a role model for young clinicians and researchers. In your innovative patient care and research, you respect and actively seek the patient perspective by engaging with the patient advocacy group. You also possess excellent management skills.
The maximum salary for this position (100%) is € 14.284,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 5 years.
In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses, career opportunities and personal budget. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).
