You will contribute to the breast cancer research performed in our group, investigating the mechanisms through which R-spondin proteins mediate breast tumor development. You will support the group by executing the in vivo research part, being responsible for mouse breeding, monitoring and experiments. This will be combined with a broad range of molecular and cellular techniques (e.g. cloning, PCR, RNA/protein expression analysis, 2D and 3D cell culture and confocal imaging).


This position is within the research group of Dr. Bakker, part of the laboratory of Dr. Derksen (, Dept. of Pathology. The laboratory is housed in the UMC Utrecht Stratenum Research building, in proximity to multidisciplinary laboratories with an overarching interest in molecular cancer research.


You have a BaSc, BSc or MSc degree in Life Sciences/Biology or related field. You have a permit and experience to work with mice, or otherwise the willingness to obtain a permit and perform preclinical mouse experiments. You are familiar with basic molecular, cellular and biochemical assays and have a proactive, flexible and dedicated work mentality. This 80-100% position will be for an initial 1 year, with an expected extension of another 2 years. The salary will be according to CAO UMC, with a maximum € 2.996,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours).
