Research in our lab is driven by the major questions in the field of redox signaling, with a focus on processes relevant to tumor biology. Specifically, we investigate how redox signaling achieves its specificity and how it contributes to for instance proliferation, differentiation, oncogenic transformation and therapy resistance.
The herein offered project will be carried out within the Dansen group and be guided by Veni-laureate Sasha De Henau. The successful candidate will use state-of-the-art tools to create novel mammalian model systems in which redox signaling events can be monitored and at will modulated. Once developed, these model systems will then be used to address two ongoing research lines in the lab. First, the role of redox signaling in development and cell differentiation will be addressed using undifferentiated and differentiated cell and organoid cultures. The second line looks at the differential effects of localized redox signaling on cell fate and cell stress responses.
The Center for Molecular Medicine focuses on understanding the molecular basis of disease. Multidisciplinary fundamental and translational research is performed within this institute in relation to various diseases, including cancer, chronic inflammatory and genetic disorders. The aim of the CMM is to train the next generation of biomedical scientists and medical doctors by performing internationally leading, fundamental biomedical research and by offering stimulating and excellent education.
We are looking for an ambitious candidate with a passion for cell biology and who enjoys taking responsibility for his/her research project. A background in molecular biology is essential, and experience with fluorescence microscopy, quantitative image analyses and biochemistry is an advantage. Our international environment requires excellent command of both spoken and written English.
