The department Dermatology/Allergology is one of seven clinical departments of the Division of Internal Medicine and Dermatology (DIGD). The DIGD is heavily involved in one of the overarching UMC Utrecht research programs, Infection en Immunity (I&I) in which the department of Dermatology/Allergology is one of the key players. With regard to patient care the ambition of the department Dermatology/Allergology is to provide optimal academic care. There is a fruitful collaboration with the departments of Plastic Surgery, Radiotherapy, Pathology, Paediatrics and Rheumatology & Clinical Immunology. The focus of academic care is on atopic eczema, food allergy, and drug allergy. The department of Dermatology/Allergology participates in the curriculum of medical students, SUMMA and Biomedical Sciences. Focus has been on developing new on-line training programs for medical students and on adaptation of the dermatology/allergology teaching program for the new medical master.

Profile

We are looking for an excellent licensed dermatologist with special focus on chronic allergic diseases. He/she is internationally renown, both for his/her clinical and translational research in chronic allergic inflammation. The candidate is a facilitator and knows how to bridge clinical and fundamental research. The high scientific standard of candidate is reflected by high quality peer reviewed publications in international journals, invited reviews and oral presentations. The candidate is active in national and international research organisations and able to establish links with other institutions both nationally and internationally. The candidate has a track record in acquisition of substantial grants from (inter)national funding agencies and industry. The candidate has a proven track record in coaching PhD students and post docs, is innovative, a strong collaborator, team player, connector, communicator and a role model for young clinicians and researchers. For innovations in patient care and research the candidate has demonstrated to respect and actively seek to the patient perspective by actively involving the patient advocacy group. The candidate is an academic leader who will further strengthen the position of the department of Dermatology/Allergology within the UMC Utrecht nationally and internationally. It should be noted that the applicant may also apply for the head of the department of Dermatology/Allergology position. To this end, proven management skills and a clear vision how to bring the department forward at a scientific medical educational and financial level is of major importance.

The maximum salary for this position (100%) is € 14.284,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 5 years.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses, career opportunities and personal budget. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).

Details

An assessment on leadership competences will be part of the selection procedure.
