The successful candidate is an experienced (bio-)statistician who shows initiative and has a broad interest in clinical research. Preferably a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Biometrics, or a related field. You have ample experience in clinical research and trials, in a multidisciplinary setting. Experience with clinical drug development is an advantage, in view of the high level expertise needed to advise the Medicines Evaluation Board. You are motivated to combine research in clinical trial methodology with application to innovative trials. You have the ability to communicate more complex statistical concepts to non-specialists. Fluency in English, both verbal and in writing, is required, as well as proficiency in applicable statistical software (preferably SAS and R) and you are able to effectively work on multiple projects.


Who we are: The Julius Center for Health Sciences and Primary Care is one of the 10 divisions within the UMC Utrecht. The Julius Center aims for a leading role in the acquisition and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Health Sciences and Primary Care. Through the years, the Julius Center has distinguished itself through high quality scientific research and education. The Biostatistics department focuses its research and main projects on Clinical trials methodology and Methodology for high dimensional (big) data. It has an academic staff of about 10 statisticians, and continuously 5 to 10 PhD students on research projects. The role fits within the strategic ambition of the UMC Utrecht to increase its clinical trial efforts, through the Utrecht Trial Innovation ALliance (U-TRIAL). This is strongly funded in the strategy to increase the positive impact of our research on patients and healthcare in general.


We ask: You are a (bio-)statistician who has experience in clinical research and trials, in a multidisciplinary setting. Preferably you have a PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Biometrics or a related field and have experience with clinical drug development.

The maximum salary for this position (36 - 36 hours) is € 5.383,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours).

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).
