As grant advisor you support researchers developing and writing national grant proposals, in the grant advisors team of the Research Support Office. You have experience in subsidy advice- and writing in the life sciences in an academic setting. We are looking for an advisor with 2-5 years experience in national research grants.

You work in the team of the (Dutch research) grant writers, supporting and advising researchers identify relevant funding opportunities and providing integral research proposal support (pre-award).

As an advisor national research grants, you keep yourself up to date on national funding programmes and opportunities and you assist in the development of complex national multi-partner grant applications together with the principal investigator(s). You will work closely with the project managers and grant writers of the new “national research grants” team. You will assist in grant preparation from the idea phase to the final submission.

The advisor national research grants will deal with the content of the proposal and is responsible for translating and co-writing parts of the proposal and turning it into a successful application. Besides this “hands-on” support, organising information sessions and giving presentations on National grants also belongs to your tasks. With your knowledge of the Dutch funding landscape you will also support the six strategic themes together with the EU grant advisors and you will become an active member of the Utrecht research support network together with the Utrecht University and other regional partners.

Department

The Research Office is part of the Corporate Staff of the University Medical Center Utrecht. The Research Office focuses on strategic advice on development, implementation and evaluation of science policy within UMC Utrecht. The grant advisor will become a member of the Research Support Office  within the Research Office. Our team advices on and supports the development of grant applications, innovation funding and management of awarded projects.

Profile

You have a thorough knowledge of the national funding landscape for consortia (like NWA, NWO-Open, NWO-Zwaartekracht, Nationaal Groeifonds and ’Grootschalige Infrastructuur’) and personal grants (NWO talentprogramme). You have an academic training in the biomedical field and preferably a PhD. You have hands-on experience in the development of complex grant applications. You have at least 2 years of grant writing and funding advice experience, which is a prerequisite. Experience with international funding programmes like Horizon2020 and Horizon Europe is a pre. Thorough knowledge of the Dutch and English language is required (since English is the main working language of the Research Office and Dutch is mainly used within the organisation and in certain national grants/funds).

In your work, you are:

  • a self-starter that shows initiative;
  • service-oriented, and an efficient communicator;
  •  a real team player and able to establish and maintain interpersonal relations;
  • an excellent writer with advanced editing skills in both English and Dutch;
  • able to prioritize and focus on results;
  • flexible and have good organizational skills;
  • able to handle multiple projects at once on a tight deadline.

The appointment is a temporary appointment, starting with a one year contract (Art.2.4.3. TC). Based on your experince, the starting salary scale will be 10/11.

The maximum salary for this position (28 - 36 hours) is € 5.383,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.
