We are looking for a highly motivated and skilled technician either with an HLO background or an MSc in natural sciences. The working language is Dutch/English and the candidate should be able to work as part of a team. The successful candidate should be an individual with a high degree of motivation to establish the novel technique of MALDI mass spectrometry imaging in a research setting. A close integration into the routines of the department of pathology is envisaged. You will work in a certified laboratory in which you will be responsible for all MSI projects inside the UMCU but also with several partners outside the UMCU. In close collaboration with our researchers/customers you will conduct experiments, support with data analysis and take care of our equipment.
In a close collaboration with Bruker, the successful candidate will receive an intense set of trainings in MALDI-MSI consisting of webinars, on-site training at the newly installed instrument and visits to the demo/application laboratory of Bruker in Bremen (Germany).
The tissue facility is part of the department of pathology. The lab is ISO 15189 accredited; the UMCU Utrecht has a JCI accreditation. Quality, customer service and patient security are the most important guides inside the department and the tissue facility. The tissue facility facilitates per-clinical and patient-related research with partners insides and outside the UMCU. MSI is a novel addition to our technical repertoire.

The maximum salary for this position (32 - 36 hours) is € 3.280,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.
