The postdoc will work on the exciting Alligather project funded by Health Holland: IgA as therapeutic antibody for cancer: All IgA Therapeutics (AllIgATher). Thus far, all clinically antibodies are of the IgG class. The immunotherapy groups has worked for the past 20 years to develop IgA as a next generation therapeutic antibodies. IgA has the unique capacity to activate neutrophils to kill tumor cells. In the present project, the candidate will unravel the underlying mechanisms, the tumor microenvironment, in vitro, in vivo in our transgenic mouse model and with patient material, refractory to standard therapies.


The postdoc will be part of the Immunotherapy group of Jeanette Leusen ( The immunotherapy group works on therapeutic antibodies in oncology and infectious disease, with a special interest in IgA and the activation of neutrophils and macrophages as effector cells. The Immunotherapy group is embedded in the Center for Translational Immunology (CTI) of the UMC Utrecht.


We are looking for an ambitious recent PhD graduate in Biology, Biomedical sciences, immunology or a related discipline. A training and certificate to conduct animal experiments is highly recommended. For this project it is important that you have demonstrated affinity with Immunology, molecular biology and translational research. You are a team player, and eager to learn. A professional level of proficiency in English (written and spoken) is recommended. You are able to think analytically, and have problem-solving skills. You will work in an enthusiastic group of 20 people, post-docs, technicians and PhD students.

The maximum salary for this position (36 - 36 hours) is € 4.615,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours).
