You are motivated to work in a collaborative academic research environment in the field of cancer research. You are a creative, outgoing person, eager to learn, and you like to ask questions and discuss scientific concepts and experiments. You have affinity for fundamental and translational research, and enjoy working in a team. You have recently obtained your university PhD degree in the field of biomedical sciences or related fields, and would like to implement innovative analysis technology in a multi-disciplinary team. You have experience with biomedical laboratory research. Preferred: experience with protein analysis in cells / tissue sections, flow cytometry, CyTOF, imaging analysis, background in immunology and/or cancer biology.
The Center for Molecular Medicine is a research center that focuses on understanding the molecular and cellular basis of disease. More than 160 researchers perform multidisciplinary fundamental and translational research in relation to various diseases, including cancer and genetic disorders. The aim of the CMM is to train the next generation of biomedical scientists and medical doctors by performing internationally leading, fundamental biomedical research and by offering stimulating and excellent education.
To understand mechanisms and treatment responses of a novel immune therapy in cancer, you will use multiparameter protein expression analysis by an innovative and unique technology; imaging mass cytometry. You will identify myeloid and adaptive immune cell subsets in the tumor microenvironment that contribute to treatment response. This involves patient cancerous tissue imaging, tissue and blood immune cells culture assays, and proteome expression analysis. You will use innovative methods for high dimensional data on a single cell and/or tissue level. You will work together with a technician and collaborate with experts in imaging mass cytometry (CyTOF), bioinformatics, flow cytometry, cancer biology, immunology, antibody production, and clinicians. This project is a collaborative effort between Vercoulen lab, Leusen lab, and TigaTx.
The maximum salary for this position (100%) is € 4.615,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 1 year with option for extension with 2 years upon positive evaluation..
