We are looking for a genomics and technology minded junior PI (tenure track) with a keen interest in understanding the genetic basis of disease. You should have a collaborative attitude, have a clear vision on contemporary research and open science and be able to develop an outstanding and high impact research line. Candidates should have an excellent internationally competitive track record in relation to their career stage and based on scientific impact (publications, valorization effort, collaborations, clinical contributions, etc). Seed and core funding to start the lab is available, but you will need to attract additional funding to extend your research group.
The Section of Genetics [http://www.umcutrecht.nl/en/Research/Research-centers/Center-for-Molecular-Medicine/Section-Genetics] of the Center for Molecular Medicine uses genomics and bioinformatics approaches to understand the genetic basis of disease. Expertise and state-of-the-art infrastructure are available for next-generation DNA sequencing (NovaSeq, NextSeq), single molecule sequencing (GridION, PromethION), genotyping, metabolomics, bioinformatics and a broad range of model systems, including patient-derived primary cultures, iPS cells and organoid culturing. The UMC Utrecht is a major academic hospital within the Netherlands, located on the Utrecht University campus including the Hubrecht Institute of devevelopmental biology and stem cell research and the Princess Maxima Center of pedriatic Oncology.
Candidates should have a PhD in a relevant subject, such as molecular biology, genetics/genomics, or similar. Moreover, candidates should have an excellent internationally competitive track record in relation to their career stage and based on scientific impact (publications, valorization effort, collaborations, clinical contributions, etc).
The maximum salary for this position (100%) is € 5.086,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 60 months (tenure track).
