You will implement a new transcriptomics study into JIA, using novel single-cell and Nanopore RNAseq assays. Relevant techniques will include RNA isolation and quality control, qPCR and Western Blotting, culturing, cloning and FACS analysis. You aim to learn and set up new assays, and strive to improve existing ones.

You record your results in electronic laboratory notebooks in a concise manner, and communicate with the team and external parties. You take initiative and use your up-to-date knowledge to enhance your work and that of the team.

Department

You will be part of a team of motivated scientists and technicians collaborating on the study of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis (JIA). The team is part of the larger Center for Translational Immunology (CTI) at the UMC Utrecht, where a variety of immunology research expertise comes together. We look for a team player who shares the collaborative and goal-oriented mindset that is central to the CTI.

Profile

We look for a technician trained in genomics/transcriptomics research (RNA work / molecular biology), with a motivation to learn and set up new assays for single-cell and Nanopore sequencing.

As a (Jr) Technician you have:
• a completed HLO/Bachelor’s degree or MSc degree in Life Sciences or equivalent
• an innovative, goal-oriented, flexible and collaborative mindset
• an interest in the fields of transcriptomics and/or translational immunology
• shown that you can set up assays

The maximum salary for this position (32 - 36 hours) is € 3.280,00 gross per month based on full-time employment.

In addition, we offer an annual benefit of 8.3%, holiday allowance, travel expenses and career opportunities. The terms of employment are in accordance with the Cao University Medical Centers (UMC).
