The International HLA & Immunogenetics Workshop (ihiw18.org) is a recurring consortium effort aiming at stimulating immunogenetics and transplantation-related research, in order to facilitate rapid translation of new technology and knowledge to patient care. To this end, various projects have been set up, covered by three main components; Antigenicity & Immunogenicity, Immunogenetics, and Bioinformatics. You will be involved in the construction and maintenance of the research databases and in data acquisition and analyses. Moreover, you may be involved in writing algorithms to analyze the big data sets that will be collected, particularly to identify HLA antibody- and T cell epitopes. You are also expected to facilitate data communication between the different research centers worldwide involved in the projects. This work will be performed at the Center for Translational Immunology of the UMCU in Utrecht, in close collaboration with the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion of the LUMC in Leiden. Together, these two department are coordinating all activities for the 18th International HLA & Immunogenetics Workshop.

Together, these two department are coordinating all activities for the 18th International HLA & Immunogenetics Workshop. The Center of Translational Immunology (LTI) at the UMC Utrecht is a well-facilitated department with experts in all fields of immunology, and is embedded in the focus area ‘Infection and Immunology’ of the UMC Utrecht. We are structured to facilitate bench-to-bed side research. We have ample experience in next generation sequencing, flow cytometry, imaging and antibody testing, all supported by state-of-the-art equipment. Moreover, Immun-informatics has a prominent position within our department.
1) completed a PhD in the field of Biostatistics/Medical statistics.
2) affinity with big data and big database management
3) extensive programming experience for example in R, Python, Perl, Java or C.
4) able to communicate in English
Preferred skill: Affinity with immunology and/or transplantation
The maximum salary for this position (80-100%) is € 4.481,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 2,5 years.
