In this study we aim to dissect clinically relevant from irrelevant patient HLA-antibodies against the kidney graft, leading to an improved risk stratification for graft loss. By 3D modelling of antibody binding to epitopes and pattern analysis of epitopes recognized in relation to the success of transplantation, we intend to refine the pre-transplant risk stratification for graft loss. You will build databases defining epitopes recognized by patient HLA antibodies and rank these in patterns according the projected antibody distance from the membrane, and their relation with graft loss. The classification model by support vector machine analysis is one of the options to use. The functional consequences of antibody binding patterns will be dfined in cooperation with the company Hycult.
The Center for Translational Immunology (CTI) hosts approximately 250 employees consisting of PhD students, post-docs, technicians and data scientists. The research you will be performing is embedded within the research program Immunity and Infection. The CTI performs multidisciplinary research on kidney transplantation.
The candidate has completed a PhD in the field of Data Science. You have experience with modelling and database management, a strong affinity with ICT, and you have extensive programming experience for example in in R, Python, Perl, Java or C. In this study it is important that you can work very well as a member of the team, but also work independently. The applicant is expected to communicate well with researchers from other disciplines and should be able to build up and organize a research network.
The maximum salary for this position (90-100%) is € 4.481,00 gross per month based on full-time employment (work week 36 hours). This job is based on a temporary position for 3 years.
