As program manager you will be embedded in the EWUU Institute for a Circular Society (i4CS) team, consisting of passionate and collaborative professionals. You will work within the program team and closely interact with the scientific coordinators, communication advisor and program- and scientific director. This dynamic role comprises a wide variety of activities and requires a pioneering mindset. It is highly encouraged to bring in and realize your own ideas, in consultation with the i4CS team, and in alignment with our goals and ambitions.
This role involves the following activities:
Supporting or managing the proposal development process of multi- or transdisciplinary projects;
Developing new internal seed funding calls that EWUU provides as to spark new cross-disciplinary and transdisciplinary projects;
In the implementation phase of projects, coordinate/contribute to stakeholder management and collaboration between societal partners and researchers
Managing the portfolio of ongoing seed grants via progress meetings and ad hoc coaching and support;
Supporting professionals in articulating research questions, approaches, solutions and impact for project proposals or business contracts;
Contributing to active dissemination of activities and outcomes throughout the community.
Community building by initiating and managing joint platform activities, such as workshops, sandpit sessions, symposia and events;

Research Office
If a candidate is selected who already works at one of the four partner institutions, she/he/they will remain employed by that partner. In other cases, UMC Utrecht will be your new employer, and the person will be formally positioned at the Research Office that is part of the Directorate Strategy & Policy of the University Medical Center Utrecht. Practically, you will be a newly employed EWUU-i4CS team member and collaborate with about 10 i4CS colleagues as described earlier.

We are looking for a candidate that meets at least a set of the following characteristics:
Is passionate about taking part in the transition towards a healthy, just and circular society;
Having a background in and built expertise and network in a relevant field (e.g. circular materials, sustainable healthcare, sustainable transition processes).
Has experience in setting up (strategic) partnerships and working at or with (societal) parties such as Industry, SME, start-up or other companies, applied research organisations (TTI), Healthcare organisations including hospitals, or governmental organisations (municipalities, provinces, national government).
Is client oriented, i.e. able to convince stakeholders to contribute content-wise and financially to the EWUU i4CS program.
Has the ability to connect societal stakeholders and researchers and support them in developing a constructive and fruitful collaboration.
Has excellent organizational, networking, communication, negotiation and entrepreneurial skills.
Has good interpersonal skills, as a team player, and as a professional in building, and maintaining relationships in complex multistakeholder consortia settings.
Has a track record in managing inter- and transdisciplinary projects and programs,
Is able to oversee and coordinate multiple projects with high complexity.
Is interested in or familiar with the national and European funding landscape and can match opportunities to stakeholder needs, translate these to relevant research questions, and bridge these to academic partners in consortia.
Is interested or experienced in attracting innovative research projects and funding in national or international consortia.
